What Is a Double Door Open Box?
A Double Door Open Box — also called a double-door gift box or bi-fold opening box — is a rigid packaging structure where two symmetrical panels meet at the center and open outward like cabinet doors. The panels are typically held shut by embedded magnets, a ribbon tie, or a snap-tab closure, and swing open to dramatically unveil the product inside.
Unlike a conventional lid-and-base box or a flip-top hinged box, the double-door design reveals the full face of the product in a single motion. This makes it one of the most striking unboxing formats available — ideal for high-end gifts, premium cosmetics, jewelry, watches, electronics, and curated hampers.

Bi-Fold Double Door Opening
Two rigid door panels joined at a center spine, each opening to 90°–180°. The symmetrical reveal creates a theatrical "grand opening" effect that flat-lid boxes simply cannot replicate. Doors are lined with the same wrap paper as the exterior for a seamless premium finish.
Closure
Magnetic, Ribbon or Snap-Tab
Embedded N35 magnets provide satisfying, silent closure and hold doors securely during shipping. Ribbon pulls or satin bows can be added as a secondary closure that doubles as a decorative element. Snap-tab closures are available for cost-sensitive applications.

1.5 mm – 2.0 mm Grey Board Core
Rigid greyboard (chipboard) forms the structural core, wrapped in 128 gsm – 157 gsm art paper, specialty textured paper, velvet, or kraft. The greyboard thickness is selected based on box size and intended weight of contents. FSC-certified materials available on request.
Interior
Custom Insert Options
EVA foam die-cut inserts, satin or velvet-lined trays, paperboard dividers, pull-tab ribbons, and pillow pads are all available. The interior can be printed, foil-stamped, or lined with specialty fabric to complement the exterior design.

What is the difference between a double door open box and a hinged box?
A hinged box (clamshell or flip-lid) opens from a single hinge along one edge — the lid lifts up. A double door open box opens from the center outward, like two cabinet doors swinging apart. This creates a wider, more symmetrical reveal of the contents and is generally considered the more dramatic, luxury-tier opening format.
Can the double door box be shipped flat to save on freight?
Standard rigid double door boxes are semi-assembled and cannot be collapsed flat in the same way folding cartons can. However, our foldable rigid double door variant uses a collapsible structure that ships flat and is assembled by the end recipient — a great option for brands that ship direct-to-consumer and want to reduce inbound freight costs. Ask about this option when you inquire.
How strong are the embedded magnets?
We use N35 neodymium magnets as standard, which provide firm, secure closure without the doors springing open during transit. Magnet strength can be adjusted based on box size and door panel weight. For very large or heavy-door boxes, we use stronger N52 magnets or multiple magnet pairs along the door edge.
Can I split a logo across both doors so it forms a complete image when closed?
Yes — this is one of the most popular design techniques for double door boxes. The artwork is precisely split at the center seam so that the two halves align perfectly when the doors are closed, creating a seamless full-panel visual. Our prepress team handles the artwork split as part of the standard order process.
What is the minimum order quantity?
Our MOQ is 500 pieces for custom-printed double door open boxes. For unprinted or single-color boxes, please contact us as the MOQ may differ. Sample orders of 1–5 pieces are available before committing to bulk production.
Do you provide design artwork support?
Yes. We provide a free structural dieline (AI/PDF format) for every order. Our in-house design team can also create your full box artwork from a logo and brand guidelines for a nominal design fee. All artwork is reviewed and approved by you before production begins.
